Stop Banking on Genocide!

Activists from Palestine Solidarity Campaign branches in Camden and Islington marched from Camden Town to the Sadler’s Wells Theatre in Islington, North London, to call on the theatre to stop taking sponsorship from Barclays Bank while a very small counter-demonstration of around ten Zionists was largely ignored by the public. Last weekend’s protest was part of the ongoing Boycott Barclays campaign which has targeted the bank for its major lending, investment and business interests which help to support the Israeli economy and its powerful military machine.

NHS Battles

Two comparatively small disputes in the NHS are worth noting as they are merely the tip of the iceberg, and have implications for how the New Labour government will resolve them. In London, nurses at Guys’ & St Thomas’ Trust, which is one of the biggest in the UK, are holding protests across London over the issue of unsustainable workloads.

No British arms for Israel!

Palestinian solidarity activists took to the streets of Manchester on Sunday to demand justice for Palestine and a global boycott of Israel. How many tens of thousands of Palestinian lives must be lost in Gaza? How many hospitals, schools and homes must be destroyed before the world does anything at all? It’s not just the last 11 months and Israel’s mass murder of over 20,000 children. Israel has been stealing Palestinian Arab land for the last 76 years, ethnically cleansing the Palestinian population and continuing their illegal and barbaric military occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

On the deaths of hostages killed in Gaza

The following is a statement by Khalil Al-Hayya, Deputy Head of Hamas in Gaza, to Al Jazeera concerning the six hostages killed in Gaza

The six [Israeli] prisoners and others could have been released to their families through a real exchange deal while still alive. But the insistence of the occupation army, Netanyahu, and his extremist government is the reason these prisoners lost their lives, along with dozens killed directly by the occupiers through bombardment, targeting those who were with them, guarding them or living with them .
